Victim Dies After Stabbing At Dutchess County Park, Hunt On For Person Of Interest

Police in the Hudson Valley are searching for a suspect who is a "person of interest" in a deadly stabbing at a city park.

The incident occurred in Dutchess County at 9:45 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 6, at Pershing Avenue Park in the city of Poughkeepsie.

According to Det. Sgt. Sean Fitzgerald of the Poughkeepsie Police, a man in his 50s, was found stabbed and bleeding at the park by responding officers.

The victim was transported to a local hospital, where he died from his injuries, Fitzgerald said.

During the late evening hours, the investigation developed a person of interest.

"The city of Poughkeepsie Detective Bureau is actively looking to speak with this person," Fitzgerald said. 

Currently, neither the victim nor the person of interest's names are being released pending positive identification of both.
